  • There are no words: I am speechless

Be warned: This story will turn your stomach and may induce uncontrollable rage against the perpetrators of these acts!

I came across this on Facebook, brought to my attention by a concerned citizen friend ( apparently I have recently become nominated as defender of the entire child universe.Yeah, I have a cape and everything!) I  promise I don’t go looking for this shit! As of late, it just seems to keep finding me. I think my faith in humanity is really being tested this week. This story truly horrified me. How any parent can abuse and rape their own flesh and blood, I do not know. How a parent can stand idly by as someone else performs such heinous crimes against their baby, I can not fathom. The extent to which these monsters abused this child were excessively cruel and brutal. What could this child of 5 months have possibly done to incite such rage? In the beginning, these assholes received only 18 years, I think they should have gotten the death penalty. To be honest, this happened in 2002 and I hope pray that during their incarceration someone inflicts the same brutality upon them as they did baby Briana! To read the complete story of Baby Briana Lopez, please go here.

Behold, the people animals douche bags pieces of shit demons who raped and killed a 5 month old!

  • And the Award for the world’s WORST MOM goes to…..

This is a very disturbing clip. Last year, bus driver Michael Hubbard was doing his routine night run when he came within inches of running over a baby sitting in the middle of the street. The baby, Destiny, got out of her house because it is believed the door was unlocked. Now Catherine Gonzales, Destiny’s mother, is in danger of losing her children to San Antonio, Texas Child Services

“It could happen to anybody in the world” ???Are you freaking kidding me?? I don’t think so!!! This bitch is crazy! Baby Destiny was 14 months old, what the hell was the kid doing up that late? They said “the girls were getting ready for bed”? What 14 month old baby gets themselves ready for bed at that time of night? Shouldn’t that little girl have been sleeping for 4+ hours already? Catherine, the award winning mother, said “How could that happen”? It happened because you were sitting on your fat ass NOT watching your kids!!! Hey Cathy…you suck and I hope Child protective services does just that…protects your girls! Get a clue and pay attention to your girls! “things like this do happen”? No, things like this don’t happen! You are most deserving of the World’s Worst Mom and perhaps even warranting a special appearance on this week’s Throat Punch Thursday! 12 feet woman! That’s all that came between your baby and a bus! Think about that!

  • Bullies be damned!

According to the Concord Monitor of Concord New Hampshire,
On the short West Washington Street block where the police said a Concord High School freshman was bullied into getting a lewd tattoo on his buttocks, other students who took part said it takes “ink” and cigarettes to join their crew.
Their spot, nicknamed “Bell’s Street” after a family who once lived there, is where the police said a 14-year-old student was targeted because he was intellectually challenged and wanted to fit in.
One man, Blake VanNest, 18, promised the freshman that others would stop bullying him once he got “Poop D–k” tattooed across his buttocks.
VanNest arranged to have another friend, Ryan Fisk, 19, bring a tattoo gun, which had been used without a license on other students in the group. According to the police, at about noon on May 10, with others watching from metal folding chairs, VanNest and Fisk threatened the victim into kneeling against a weight bench, taking turns etching dark ink into his skin.
While VanNest and Fisk are jailed on $35,000 bail, their friends, some of whom have also been charged in connection with the incident, returned late last week to their spot on West Washington Street. Moments after the final bell rang at Concord High, they gathered to smoke cigarettes and laugh about pictures of their friends in the newspaper.
Neighbors complain of fights, loud music, littering and aggressive teenagers who refuse to move out of the way for oncoming traffic. Some feel uncomfortable about giving their names or calling the police, for fear of being targeted themselves. The police said officers who patrol the area keep a special eye on West Washington Street, but it’s one of many areas of focus.

Seriously what the hell is going on? What kind of world do we live in where we can’t even send our kids to school safely. This 14 year old mentally challenged boy was completely taken advantage of. Where were the teachers? I mean, even the crazy teacher beating students asses in Houston was a defender of the mentally challenged. If that crazy bitch was in New Hampshire, this never would have happened. If he was mentally challenged, aren’t there supposed to be aids and care givers within the school to watch over him and keep him safe from such predators? He should not have been left to his own devices to fend for himself against the advances of these men. I am speechless. I may have to stop watching the news. These criminals have no remorse and don’t seem likely to stop this behavior any time soon. Even if they did., it seems there are several others to fall into position and take over their place. What does it say about our society that we raise our kids to treat other human beings like this? Have we lost all compassion and humanity? I hope to raise my daughters to be more caring and empathetic of others; to aid and protect the weak not to prey on them.Absolutely despicable! I am outraged and embarrassed for these perpetrators.

  • No do overs!

I’m sure you’ve heard the name Ethan Stacy, in the past few weeks. Ethan Stacy was the 4 year old boy who was reluctantly sent across the country by the court system in late April to stay with his estranged Mother, Stephanie Sloop, and her fiance/new husband, Nathan Sloop. He was ordered by the divorce court judge to go spend the summer with his mother in Utah and leave the only home he had known with his father, Joe Stacy, in Virginia. Within days of arriving, the beating started. On May 5, Nathan Sloop, 31, took the 4-year-old child into a bedroom and began slapping and hitting him on the face and head, police said. Ethan’s face began to swell. Police said his mother did not alert anyone or seek medical attention for her son. He was beaten so badly that he could not attend the wedding of his mother and her fiance, for fear someone would report them.
For the next three days, police said, Ethan was vomiting, was lethargic, had a fever, and was not able to eat. His symptoms were consistent with a possible brain injury. Instead of trying to help the child, Nathan Sloop engaged in “a systematic and progressively more violent pattern of abuse.”
But no one knew. How could they? Joe Stacy had called his son every day after the child had been sent to Utah, but beginning on May 5, his former wife began to make excuses on the phone for why the boy could not talk to him.
On May 7, police said, Stephanie Sloop returned home from shopping to find that Ethan had been scalded on his feet, legs and buttocks. Nathan Sloop said the boy had burned himself in the bathtub.
On May 9 — Mother’s Day — Ethan was found dead in his bed.
Police said that Nathan and Stephanie Sloop did not notify anyone, but instead began “to formulate a plan to dispose of the body and deceive law enforcement.”
The couple, according to police, wrapped garbage bags around the child’s body and drove to Powder Mountain.
Police said Nathan Sloop took a hammer to Ethan’s face and teeth, in an effort to make him unrecognizable should anyone ever find him. The boy was then buried.
Late the next night, Stephanie Sloop reported the child missing. She told the Layton police that Ethan had walked away from home. Some 40 officers, in foul weather, searched for the child. But before long the Sloops’ story began to fall apart. Late on the afternoon of May 11, officers digging in the mud recovered his body.
Nathan and Stephanie Sloop are being held in the Davis County Jail. He is being held on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony child abuse, obstruction of justice and desecration of a corpse. She is being held on suspicion of felony child abuse, obstruction of justice and desecration of a corpse.
The body of Ethan Stacy, who had never wanted to leave his father in the first place, was flown back to Virginia last week. That is where, with summer coming, he was buried, this time with dignity and with love.

This video leaves me sad and disgusted. I do NOT know how a mother can allow someone, anyone, to hurt their child like this. Most Moms that I know would die for their child. This woman killed hers, perhaps not through direct action but by ignoring the obvious signs that Ethan was being brutalized by this asshole that she had married. I think this woman should be given the death penalty along with her sorry ass excuse for a husband. She stood by and let it happen..she allowed her son to be brutally beaten and killed and then participated in the cover up which included taking a hammer to his precious little face. He was 4 years old! This woman is the sorriest excuse for a human being on the face of the earth and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I also think that more stringent interviewing/ background checks should be applied in custody battles when the parent and the child both so vehemently object to the parent in question. This little boy can not be brought back and he suffered a painfully cruel and degrading death, because the courts disregarded his pleas. I understand he was 4 and she was his mother, but if there were objections to the custody arrangement..someone should have looked into why. Now Ethan Stacy is dead and there are no do overs![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

  • A Romance for the Ages

On my birthday, as a very special treat, my husband and I had the privilege of seeing  Romeo and Juliet  courtesy of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. This was a particularly sweet part of my birthday because  not only am I a big fan of the theater, the works of Shakespeare are my absolute favorite. Even more importantly, I have been in love with the story of Romeo and Juliet since I first read it when I was 13. I remember fantasizing as a young girl about being immersed in a love as deep as that of Romeo and Juliet. You can imagine my delight at being given the chance to watch the production with my very own Romeo.

As you may know, from my last experience at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater , the theater itself is very impressive. We arrived and were ushered into this gloriously enchanting theater, set up very similar to what a traditional Elizabethan theater would have been set up.Basically, the stage juts out into the center of the theater and there is truly not a bad seat in the intimate theater.I particularly love the lighting, upon arrival it was very warm and gave the theater a romantic glow.

The production itself was amazing. This being one of my favorite plays of Shakespeare, I have read the book several times, seen every movie variation ever made ( My personal favorite being Franco Zefferelli’s) , and seen it on the stage via television but I have never had the pleasure of seeing it live on stage. So, to say that I was excited for this opportunity is a great understatement.
I was particularly impressed by how contemporary yet timeless the play was portrayed. It opens with the Capulet’s men and Montague’s men bickering in a fight scene in the street. The two families were easily identifiable by either blue or red stitching on their clothing. It was very gritty and because of the size and shape of the theater you felt like a bystander on the street watching the feud unfold.Actually, the entire time I was watching the play, I felt like I was part of the production; an extra, if you will. The Elizabethan theater shape really is genius. I wish all theaters were set up like this.
I found it very interesting that the costumes transcended time by including clothing from just about every era of the 20th century. It was apparent but very subtle. More of a nuance than a direct appeal to your senses. I was, however, most impressed by the use of the true dialogue. Being that I am such a fan, I always expect to be let down when a classic is produced on stage, especially if it is updated for contemporary audiences. I understand why this is done, to make the production more easily relate able and understood but it has always made me feel like they were “dumbing it down” for their audience. This was NOT the case at the CST production. The wardrobe and the set were changed somewhat to be timely but the dialogue itself was true to the original Shakespeare and thanks to the superior acting skills of the cast, even a Shakespeare novice could understand what was going on and thoroughly enjoy the production.
All of the cast were superior. Obviously, I loved the characters of Romeo (John Lillico) and Juliet ( Joy Farmer-Clary). Juliet was absolutely beautiful and played the part with a childlike innocence and limited view of the world. Romeo was very charming and lived on the stage like your average teen aged boy; feasting on romance and living inside of his own head, oblivious to the reality surrounding him. The chemistry between the two was palpable. The two actors were very well suited for their parts. Even with the combustible chemistry, they played the parts very innocently (as it was meant to be since the characters are young teenagers not adults). It really added to the romance of the show.
Other characters of note were the Nurse (Ora Jones) who gave the part a certain je ne sais quoi that really made her endearing to the audience. She was boisterous, over the top, and vivacious. I loved watching her reactions to the goings on of the other characters. Another fabulous addition to the cast was  Benvolio ( Steve Haggard) who made the character very likable and funny. He added a lightheartedness to the play that was definitely needed to balance out the tragedy. But my favorite character was, as it has always been, Mercutio (Ariel Shafir). Mr. Shafir played Mercutio perfectly. He was funny, honest, over the top, loud, sarcastic, and honorable. Mercutio was portrayed as the friend that everybody wants to have in their life. The quick wit of the dialogue coupled with the physical acting of the character provided much entertainment. All of the cast were exceptionally well suited for their parts. Gale Edwards did a fantastic job directing this production.

It is so seldom that we get a night out away from the children and this was also my birthday so I was hanging the moon on this production. I am happy to say it did not disappoint. I would recommend this production to any friend of mine and I highly suggest it for date night for any couple that wants an excuse to snuggle into your own Romeo. The story is timeless, the cast superior, the theater beautiful, and romance is definitely in the air. The Big Guy and I left the building holding hands and the production really did start my birthday celebration of with a bang!
Romeo and Juliet runs September 15, 2010 thru to November 21, 2010,with multiple performance times available. There are also many great activities and attractions going on at Navy Pier this fall so come for the show and make a day or night of it on the Pier! If you live in the Chicago land, Northwest Indiana area, I would highly recommend making this performance a date night destination while you still have the opportunity. For more information click the link below
Disclosure: I was provided with tickets to see Romeo and Juliet by  The Chicago Shakespeare Theater in order to view the performance  and give my own personal opinions on it. The opinions I have given are mine and may differ from others but were NOT influenced by the Chicago Shakespeare Theater..

  • Better than Ice cream

In a couple days, my husband and I will be celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary(we married when we were 19..not really but its the only way the math works if I am perpetually 30) and it has me feeling a little (how shall we say it) romantic! So this is for you baby! Because  for to me, you are better than ice cream. That’s saying a lot considering my love affair with ice cream. I could give up all other food, but not ice cream. Never ice cream!
