This election is a game changer. I’ve been sucked in, once again. I never think of myself as overly political. Yes, I am technically a political scientist. That is what one of the degrees in my office says anyways. I own it. But I’ve tried to stay out of it this election season but when others begin to attack me for my beliefs solely for my stance on an issue and then try to place blame on my suspected political affiliation, I take offense especially when the case in point had nothing to do with political affiliation and everything to do with calling bullshit on something that I found to be disingenuous. I don’t appreciate being called names and having my beliefs questioned simply because someone suspects I’m a democrat. I take offense because I don’t practice politics with blind, unfounded hate. There is no you and I. There is only “WE”, we the people.
There was a point in time where I loved absolutely everything about politics and history and the United States and law, but that was a lifetime ago. There was also a time that I was a Republican and almost fainted when I got to shake the hand of of George H.W. Bush at my campus rally. he was no Bill Clinton but hey, we can’t all be that damn charming. Yes, that was many moons ago, as well. But that is not who I am anymore.
Today, I am a grown up. I have children, responsibilities, parents who are retired, a mortgage and a quality of life. I can’t play fast and loose with my future. Today, I know that life is not black or white but various shades of gray ( maybe 50 or so). When I vote in an election or choose a candidate to support, I don’t vote straight democrat or republican because I am not blind, deaf and dumb.
I do not live in a bubble. I vote on the issues. I vote for the candidate who is going to make the world, at the very least, this country, a better place for my daughters to grow up in. I vote for the person whose ideology most closely resembles my own and who has the capability to make the changes in the world that I want to see. I vote issues and if the person who agrees with my issues happens to be charismatic, that’s a bonus.
I want a doer not a talker. I want a person of integrity and action. I want someone who is accountable to their constituents. I want someone who understands what an honor and privilege it is that we are bestowing upon him/her.I want someone who respects and values women and our control over our own bodies. I want someone who doesn’t think of women as property or cattle. I want someone who treats everyone fairly regardless of class, sex, religion or color of skin. I want someone who only sees red, white and blue and not just green.
I want someone who understands the American people, after all government is supposed to be for the people and by the people. I think a lot of people have forgotten that. We have the right and privilege of electing these people. They are our representatives. Their job is to make our government reflect our wants and needs, not the other way around. People seem to have forgotten that. Government is not for big business. That may be who funds campaigns but that is not who votes them in. That, my friends, is you and I.
An election is the chance for you and I to Change the world
My point is that we are voting for people who we hope can fix the issues that are important to us. We are voting for humans not mastheads.I generally try not to be outrageously political on my site, but sometimes you have to take a stand for what’s right. Do what makes you happy. But I become a little bit dismayed when I see politics being played so blatantly only for votes, where there is no substance, no relevance and deceptions are being transpired. A presidential election should not be a beauty contest or a popularity contest, a presidential election should be considered with the weight and gravity that it holds. An election is a chance to change the world and the person we vote for is the person we trust to make that happen; to represent us, to fight for us, to protect our basic rights. The person we vote for in this election needs to be able to truly identify with ‘we the people’.
I don’t understand how some people can be so blindly partisan that the minute you mention one candidate or the other, walls go up, insults are hurled and grown adults become as undignified and rude as overtired, tantruming children in the toy aisle.
Please vote in this election, it could change all of our lives
I know who I am voting for this November. It’s the same man I helped put into office four years ago. The same man who changed history. The man who is making a difference for the better. President Obama was handed a mess when he took office and he’s been working his ass off to clean it up. He’s like a mother with several children under the age of 6, trying to keep everyone satisfied, fed and clean while trying to make ends meet and maintain a successful relationship with the people around him on little to no sleep. He’s doing his best and it’s making a difference. Slow and steady wins the race, my friends.Fast talking and promises with no merit mean nothing.
Please vote wisely. I don’t care who you vote for this election as long as you know the issues and choose the candidate that you feel can truly do the most good for our country, no matter if he happens to be an ass or an elephant.
God Bless you and God Bless America
Apparently, it’s not enough that this election has our country going to hell in a handbasket with a political slope that is slicker than chicken grease now we’re on full out Creepy Clown crisis even the White House says so. Okay, so they are not killer clowns yet but these sons of guns are sure as hell scaring all the kids in my neck of the woods. Yes, my damn neighborhood is literally covered in wooded areas, parks and bus stops; it’s a pardon the term, a creepy clown’s “wet dream”. Thanks a lot asshole for forcing my co-sleepers that I JUST forced out of my bed a couple years ago…right back in!
Clowns, you think you are creepy? Oh you just wait until I see one of you son-of-a-bitches in my neighborhood, I’m going to take your giant clown shoes off and beat you with them myself! It’s one thing to get head-butted by a 1-year-old, it’s quite another to get roundhouse kicked in your sleep by a 5’3” baby Huey tween. These creepy clowns have got to go.
Over the weekend, there was a creepy clown harassing a group of kids at a bus stop in our city. Aside from plaguing the entire snowflake generation with a monster case of coulrophobia now you’ve gone and made it personal. The snowflakes are the children of Generation X, can’t you just focus on scaring the fucking hipsters and millennials. They might even enjoy it. We don’t. I don’t want to share the downfall of my kid’s psyche on social media. I don’t need to hashtag it for likes. I’ll pass.
I spent Sunday night in my room with the Big Guy (he’s 6’5”, we call him that for a reason) who snores like a kitten, a 5’3” tween who practices her dance moves in her sleep and is prone to screaming outbursts, a 4’11” 9-year-old who clings to the nearest warm body like a heat seeking baby monkey and sleep combats people in their “sensitive” areas while they sleep and a bulldog squiggle ( Squeaky pig-like creature) who thinks she’s human and likes to plop her muscly ass dead center in the bed forming an H between the Big Guy and I. It was wall to wall people.
Trying to go to pee during the night was like a human/ canine obstacle course and that’s dangerous when you’ve got stress incontinence.Trying not to step on children or trip over random pillows, shoes, and blankets or disappear into a pile of unfolded laundry was even harder than it sounds. It was damn dangerous and I owe it all to those creepy clowns.
Oh, you think you’re scary, you ain’t got shit on this exhausted mama! I’m not currently in my right mind and you will feel the full wrath of my crazy should ever our two paths cross. Actually, I need some sleep. Let’s schedule a “play date” at the local park…you bring your red nose and clown shoes and I’ll bring my nunchucks, machete, and some Tequila. Mom versus clown. I’m desperate to sleep so don’t expect to be walking away from this tussle with your red nose and big hands intact. I’m taking you down clown. Insane clown posse…pfffttt…insane mom posse, bitches.
All joking aside, I’m not a person who suffers from a phobia of clowns but I think one creepster has caused hysteria. You remember John Wayne Gacy used to dress in grease paint, right? That was enough to make clowns creepy forever. Well, now there are creepy clown sightings everywhere and even a couple literal clowns robbed a bank and there are teens soliciting clowns on social media to murder their teachers. I’m guessing that it’s a whole bunch of copycats. This is not one person or group because it’s happening all over the country. I think we’ve opened a door for people to commit heinous acts under the guise of creepy clown attacks. The world is rampant with assholes doing bad shit and now they’re using clown masks to do it.
This is not a drill we are in creepy clown crisis mode.
My concern is the mass hysteria that it is bringing with it. Suddenly people are imagining clowns everywhere. No one is above suspicion. Worse still, kids are spreading stories of their own creepy clown sightings (many of which I believe are products of their imaginations) and I think this is going to turn into a Salem Witch trial situation soon. Kid hates their teacher for assigning homework? Tween hates their neighbor for telling them to stay off their grass? Teen hates their friend’s dad for not allowing said friend to stay out past curfew? Oh you hate that guy in high school who didn’t want to date you? Clowns every single one of them. Just watch, the next step in the evolution of the creepy clown epidemic will be false accusations of creepy clown participation.
In all seriousness, this is creepy as shit especially with Halloween coming up so quickly. Like, I might literally shit my pants if our neighborhood is overrun with creepy clown costumes and I know my kids will. Guess I’m dressing as a drunk Chuck Norris for Halloween because the nunchucks, machete, and tequila are going with me this Halloween. While I think most of the viral videos of machete-wielding creepy clowns chasing joggers are bullshit because I don’t know too many joggers who jog in Go Pros or with their phones recording the entire experience (well, maybe some millennials because I know they like to document every single “special” thing they do like farting or breaking a sweat and hashtag the hell out of it ;)) I do think this is a teachable moment for our children.
My girls are terrified of clowns now, which, honestly, clowns, as a whole, are pretty freaking creepy looking anyways or maybe I’ve just seen way too many Rob Zombie movies. Yes, 31, I’m looking at you. But I’ve made this an opportunity to revisit the conversation with my girls about why you don’t talk to strangers, you don’t ever go up to a stranger, never give directions or take candy or pet puppy dogs of strangers. Strangers are bad! I’ve taught them the scream, yell, fight, kick in the balls and wiggle technique in case they’re ever grabbed. It’s given me the chance to remind them why they are not allowed to go places alone or veer too far away from home, unsupervised. It’s given me the chance to use my, “You never know the psychopath sitting next to you” speech. It’s also given me a reason to explain once again why social media is not allowed for them at age 9 and 11.
My children are young and naïve and I don’t want them to go through life scared but I do want them to go through life using some common sense and a healthy dose of caution. I trust my children but the rest of the world, not so much. I think anybody in a mask in a normal situation is a little bit strange and it makes me defensive when I can’t see your face, that’s just me and my healthy dose of caution instilled from my ghetto upbringing. I don’t trust anyone unless I know them, and then sometimes not even. I was raised with a lot of skepticism of the world in general. I wasn’t raised on unicorns and rainbows. It was hard reality all damn day long. I’m not sure that’s a bad thing in the state of today’s world.
Speaking of creepy clowns and things moms need to be worried about? Did any of you watch the vice presidential debate? Mike Pence…dear lord, if that man isn’t enough to scare you straight to the polls to vote for Hillary, I don’t know what is. Maybe we can sacrifice him to the creepy clown posse as an offering so they leave our children alone?
Also, amber alerts? What is going on? I don’t know where you live but we’ve had several a day in my state for the past week. My kids are coming home with all their stories confused, they are blaming the amber alerts on children being lured by creepy clowns. None of that is factual, much like the belief at my children’s school that all Mexicans are ISIS. I swear I spend most of my day trying to convince my daughters that 99% of the shit they hear at school is exactly that…bullshit.
What are you doing to assuage your children’s fear of the creepy clowns? What are your thoughts on the creepy clown crisis?
time for family. And family is love. I love my family with an intensity that sometimes crushes me to bits and makes it hard to breathe. I can’t imagine my existence without them. And I adore this time of year because it gives us all a reason to come together. With a family like mine that is spread halfway across the globe, our times together are infrequent, but they are wonderful.
Margaret Thatcher was the first woman ever to serve as prime minister of Great Britain and the longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century. This morning at age 87, Margaret Thatcher died peacefully at her home as the result of a stroke.
Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister of Britain when I was a child. Before the Hilary Clinton’s and Sandra Day O’Conners and Condoleezza Rice’s of the world, there was Margaret Thatcher. She was who I looked up to. She is still the woman by which all women should measure their success.
Throat Punch Thursday~ Sandusky the Pedo & the Moral Negligence of Joe Paterno and Mike McQueary Edition
Throat Punch Thursday Paterno Style
Joe Paterno ~ What the f*ck is going on over at Penn State? Since when did Penn State college football become more important than a defensive coordinator sexually abusing underprivileged children? When did our society become so nonchalant and tolerant of abuse of any kind towards a child? Childhood is to be magically lived, not survived. I am perfectly aware of the facts of the case, I know that Jerry Sandusky was the actual perverted pedophile who got his rocks off sodomizing the very boys that he was supposed to be helping but everyone who knew about it and
turned a blind eye didn’t beat him with a bat didn’t report it to the police so that they could continue on with winning seasons are equally as guilty. Had the legendary Joe Paterno did more than just reporting it to a higher up maybe it would have stopped. Joe Paterno could have saved every one of Sandusky’s victims since then from ever being abused. Coach Paterno knew what Jerry Sandusky was doing was criminal. If he saw that all Sandusky got was a slap on the wrist, he should have went to the authorities but he didn’t because he didn’t give a shit. It wasn’t his problem. It wasn’t his child. It didn’t effect him in anyway, apparently not even his conscience. He was winning and being glorified and, after all, that is all that matters. Who gives a sh*t about a bunch of underprivileged kids anyways, right?
On November 4, 2011, Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly indicted Sandusky on 40 (WTF?) counts of sex crimes against young boys, following a three-year investigation into allegations that he had inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old boy over the course of four years, beginning when the boy was ten years old. The boy’s parents reported the incident to police in 2009. (What took so long? Did they need to let him abuse someone else? Why is this animal even walking around free around children?)[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”] A Pennsylvania statewide investigating grand jury identified eight boys singled out for sexual advances or sexual assaults by Sandusky from 1994 through 2009. At least 20 of the incidents allegedly took place while Sandusky was still employed by Penn State. The mother of one of the alleged victims said that Sandusky personally admitted to inappropriately touching her son while showering with him on campus in 1998. ( Maybe he wanted to be stopped. Maybe that is why he let himself be caught but no one at Penn State cared enough about the children to report him.) However, Ray Gricar, Attorney General of Centre County at that time, declined to press charges.(Why?I need further explanation! I demand it.)
Sandusky was arrested on November 5 and charged with seven counts of involuntary ( involuntary? What did his dick just assault those little boys and he had no control of his member? Was it an accidental sodomization? Are we calling it a slip and trip in the shower now?) deviate sexual intercourse. Two Penn State administrators were charged with perjury and failure to report suspected child abuse by Sandusky. Senior vice president for finance and business Gary Schultz, who oversaw the Penn State police department, and Tim Curley, the athletic director, were found to be not credible by the grand jury.
Despite the history no criminal charges were brought against Sandusky until after an investigation initiated in the Spring of 2008 when the mother of one of the boys (identified in court papers as “Victim 1”) reported the abuse during his freshman year at Central Mountain High School in Clinton County, Pennsylvania. According to court papers Sandusky had been having a relationship with Victim 1 since 2005 or 2006 when the boy was 11 or 12 and the relationship involved “inappropriate touching.” Sandusky had met the boy through the Second Mile program. Sandusky retired from Second Mile in 2010.
What Would Paterno Do?
According to the indictment, in 2002 Penn State graduate assistant Mike McQueary walked in on a ten-year-old boy (described in court papers as “Victim 2”) “being subjected to anal intercourse by a naked Sandusky” in the Lasch Football Building on the Penn State campus. The next day, he reported the incident to Paterno, who informed Curley. Ultimately, the only action Curley and Schultz took was to order Sandusky not to bring any children from Second Mile to the football building—an action that was approved by school president Graham Spanier. The indictment accused Curley and Schultz of not only failing to tell the police, but falsely telling the grand jury that the graduate assistant never informed them of sexual activity. Since no formal police investigation was conducted at the time, the identity and exact age of Victim 2 is not known. The only formal law enforcement investigation began in December 2010 when McQueary testified before the Grand Jury.
Although Penn State prohibited Sandusky from bringing boys onto the main campus in 2002, Sandusky was allowed to operate a summer camp under his name from 2002 to 2008 at a satellite campus near Erie where he had daily contact with boys from fourth grade to high school.
Sandusky is currently free on $100,000 bail pending trial. He could face life in prison if convicted of the charges. Curley and Schultz appeared in a Harrisburg courtroom on November 7, where a judge set bail at $75,000 and required them to surrender their passports.
Jerry Sandusky founded the Second Mile with this mission:
Many children face adversity even before they understand how to dream. The Second Mile, founded in 1977 in State College, Pennsylvania, is a statewide non-profit organization for children who need additional support and who would benefit from positive human contact. The Second Mile plans, organizes, and offers activities and programs for children – and adults who work with them – to promote self-confidence as well as physical, academic, and personal success.
When Sandusky founded Second Mile was it with the intent to lure children there under the guise of “promoting self-confidence as well as physical, academic and personal success”? Was Sandusky sodomizing young boys in the shower the positive contact with which they were referring to as beneficial? Why didn’t Mike McQueary forcibly remove Jerry Sandusky from anally raping this small child instead he walked in, “OOPS, didn’t see the sock on the door bro” style and just as quickly ran out. He should have beat the hell out of Sandusky and rescued that terrified boy from the showers. Was the additional support, Paterno passing the information that Mike McQueary told him he had caught Sandusky in the act of anally raping a child in the showers off to Curly? Was support Curly and Schultz, armed with the fact that Sandusky was caught forcibly sodomizing a child, telling Graham Spanier so that he could do nothing more than tell Sandusky that he could not bring the Second Mile kids to the showers at Penn State? Everyone passed it along, no one did anything as helpless unsuspecting children stood shivering in the showers at Penn State as the monsters attacked. Basically, who cares if Jerry Sandusky is abusing children…just don’t do it on our property and soil our good football name! Was the support the Second Mile kids received Spanier approving the action taken by Curly and Schultz but doing nothing further? Why were the authorities not called? Shouldn’t this man, Jerry Sandusky, have been strung up by his balls and beaten like a pinata by his victims? At the very least, he should have been sent to prison in 2002 when he was first caught! To add insult to injury, after his slap on the wrist of not being allowed to use the showers at Penn State to conduct his abuse, he was still allowed to operate a summer camp on one of Penn State’s satellite campuses.
Who knows how many victims there have been over the years since 1977? How many little boys lives have been ruined in the showers at Penn State? An actual investigation was not started until 2008. That is 31 years of unabashed abuse that Sandusky was dispensing to trusting, unsuspecting children who had placed their faith and respect in him to be a mentor, someone to help better their situation. Why did parents not come forth sooner? Better yet, why didn’t the parents of these boys lynch this pedophile child raping bastard? So many people let this go on for so long. The line of culpability is practically wrapped around the entire campus.
The students and alumni are protesting and up in arms that the legendary coach Joe Paterno has been fired and that it will tarnish their football program. What about the children of the past 33 years who have been abused? What about those of the past 9 years who Paterno himself could have directly have saved from the abuse? All this legendary douche canoe had to do was call the fucking police. ONE phone call and he could have stopped this all. The students and alumni should be up in arms that they have been idolizing a man who is a coward and accomplice to a pedophile. The people of Penn State that are supporting Paterno are supporting the belief that it’s OK to abuse a child. That football is more important than our future. That children are disposable and unimportant. They should look in the mirror, they were not children so long ago. Some may have children of their own. They may even know one of the Penn State Good Ole Boys’ victims. I say moral negligence is a crime and in and of itself. Paterno may not have sodomized anyone in the shower but he is culpable for is sin of omission and for not screaming fire in a crowded Penn State. Joe Paterno could have saved so many victims but Paterno chose to ignore what Sandusky was doing. You can’t tell me that Paterno thought that a fitting punishment for sodomizing a little boy in the shower was to take away Sandusky’s shower privileges at Penn States main campus? Maybe if the crime was peeing in the shower it would fit the bill. But for raping children, the punishment to fit the crime would be more in the realm of castration by butter knife.
Mike McQueary you get my Throat Punch for not beating the ever loving shit out of Jerry Sandusky when you seen him anally raping that poor little boy. Curly and Schultz, you had the proof to save children from this fate and you turned a blind eye in the name of your football program and Graham Spanier, you are the biggest piece of shit of all. YOU were the final word and your word was to let loose a monster on the children of the Second Mile for 9 years with no regard for their safety and innocence. Joe Paterno you had such power and moral obligation to protect these boys of the Second Mile but football meant more to you than the consequence of what would happen to those boys in the showers at Penn State. You should have done more. You could have done more. Joe Paterno, YOU chose not too.
Paterno You Could Have Stopped this
In celebration of my 5th year of blogging, I have decided to start a weekly series called This Blogger’s life.. featuring one amazing blogger each Friday. I will always ask the same 15 questions to all the bloggers. For my inaugural post I am interviewing my amazing friend and fellow blogger, Jill Smokler ( the force behind ScaryMommy.com).
This is how it will work, every Friday ( same bat time, same bat blog) I will be interviewing one of the many amazing women ( or men) on the internet. Those who inspire me, mentor me and even some of those bright new up and coming bloggers. The blogging world feels so small sometimes because we share some of the most intimate moments with one another; marriage, pregnancy, birth, labor, raising children, divorce, sex, fashion, travel, food and everything in-between. It’s the greatest tribe I’ve ever had.
I love conferences because it’s a giant hug fest amongst some of the women that know me best but there just never seems like enough time to hang out; to talk. So, I decided why not interview some of these amazing people, who I am proud and lucky to call my friends. So without further ado, I give you the inaugural
This Blogger’s Life…Jill Smokler aka Scary Mommy.
Why did you start blogging? March of 2008, I was home with three little kids and desperate for a hobby of my own. A friend started a blog and, on whim, I figured I’d try one, too. Never, ever thought it would last past a month or two.
What’s one piece of advice that you would give to a new blogger? To have fun; blogging starts as a hobby – very few people make decent money from it and those who do, certainly don’t immediately. If it’s feeling like a job or a burden, you’re missing the point.
What are the three words that describe you best? Stubborn, passionate, driven
What is your favorite website? My own. I mean, it better be, right?
What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not blogging? Walking on the beach with my kids, looking for shells. That’s my happy place.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about yourself from blogging? That my path in life is really up to me.
How do you balance life and blogging? Not very well, unfortunately. Since the time the site became my sole income, I’ve constantly been searching for that happy balance, but still don’t think I’ve found it. As a side hobby, it was easy, but as a job, never. I’m not sure you can ever truly balance life with work you’re passionate about, though – something always suffers.
How has blogging changed you or your life? Pretty early on, I realized that blogging could be the vehicle that allowed me to do something I enjoyed from home and not have to go back to an office job. I’m thankful every single day that it has allowed me that. The lifestyle isn’t easy, and I’m always working, but I’m working for me, doing something I love and I can still be the one to pick the kids up from school every day. None of that would have been possible without the blog.
What do you think makes a successful blog? A great blog? Are they one in the same? I think a great and successful blog is one that serves its purpose — if you set out to entertain your friends and family and do that, you’ve succeeded. If you want some fun freebies and perks and you get them, you’ve done it. If you want a record of your days with your kids, that’s a pretty awesome gift to give them. I think there are a million ways to have a successful blog, it just depends on how you define success.
If you were to stop blogging today, what would you do with the rest of your life? I can’t even imagine! Seriously. I’m stumped.
How do you balance telling your story, without telling the story of others in your life? The older my kids have gotten, the less I write about them for that very reason — their stories aren’t mine to share. It’s a tough road to navigate, though, and I’ve definitely learned the hard way that most people don’t appreciate being blog fodder.
Blogging has changed a lot, just since I started 5 years ago, what do you miss about blogging in the early days? What do you love that has changed? I miss the intimacy, I miss having time to visit all the blogs I care about and I miss the focus being on quality content rather than virality; sites like BuzzFeed and ViralNova drive me crazy. I do love that there’s much more acceptance of less than perfect sites than there used to be. It’s no longer taboo to admit not loving every second of motherhood and that’s definitely a win.
How do you consistently come up with relevant and shareable content? I’m lucky to have people send me content, because I certainly couldn’t do it alone!
If you could have a dinner party for 6 people, living or dead, who would you invite? Erma Bombeck, Hilary Clinton, Tina Fey, my grandmother, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs. Hello, random dinner party.
What’s the one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you? Years ago, I was offered a job to work at Martha Stewart Living – kind of the anti-Scary Mommy workplace.
What’s the one post that you are most proud of? Probably this one – It was the most raw I’ve ever felt, and I still sometimes go back and read the comments when I need a pick me up.
Thank you Jill for allowing me to interview you. You were one of the first blogs that I ever followed and you inspire me with your big heart and authentic voice. You always stay true to who you are. Thanks for always sharing your truth and being scary awesome. XOXO
Hope that you all enjoyed my first This Blogger’s Life interview with Jill and if you liked her here, go check her out at ScaryMommy.com or better yet share her hilarious series of Scary Mommy books with the moms in your life.
Throat Punch Thursday~Liar,Liar Anthony Weiner on fire
Well, we all knew it was coming. Look, Truthful Mommy is by no means a prude, I think that’s been proven time and time again BUT this whole Weinergate situation has had me longing for the Clinton/Lewinski scandal. It’s become painstakingly obvious that to be in politics you have to be a adulterer or some other sort of sexual deviant. Not that I give a rats ass what anyone does besides closed doors between two consenting adults, but for the love of God, can you politicians please not use Twitter as your own personal sextual playground?
Seriously,we’ve all been to #wineparty and got a little tipsy and possibly said something flirtatious, but we’re not politicians and we’re not usually tweeting indecent photos of our Weiner to ignite a scandal. Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner has exercised some poor judgement of epic proportions. It’s not that you want to get your freak on congressman, it’s that you don’t have the good sense to not leave a social media trail. And now your newlywed wife is pregnant? Jeez is there a special secret club that only allows politicians who screw around on their wives while their wives are pregnant or have small children? Is there a special prize for doing such a scandalous thing?
(CNN) — Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York will heed calls from across the political spectrum and resign over a sexting scandal that he lied about before admitting his involvement, a Democratic source with knowledge of the congressman’s plans said Thursday. How exactly do you lie about this?
That’s not me nor is that my Weiner! I protest. Your eyes have betrayed you good people of the United States.”
*Representative Anthony D. Weiner, a high-profile New York Democrat who had been considered a leading candidate to be the city’s next mayor, said Thursday that he was resigning from Congress following revelations of lewd online exchanges with several women.
[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”]
“I’m here to apologize for the personal mistakes I have made and the embarrassment that I have caused,” Mr. Weiner said, adding that he had hoped to be able to continue serving his constituents. “Unfortunately,” he said, “the distraction I created has made that impossible.” So, he’s not sincerely apologizing for the ordeal but more for the fact that he got caught and it’s messing up his life.Understandable, but not admirable.
Mr. Weiner announced his resignation in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, at a senior center where he announced his first campaign for City Council in 1991. But while that moment was filled with promise and excitement, his resignation occurred in a raucous and circuslike atmosphere, punctuated by shouting from a group of hecklers. This couldn’t have been a surprise to him. It’s not like he was a victim. He perpetrated lewd behavior and his constituents are disappointed and worse, he lied. They are hurt and angry that he lied on top of everything else.
