Kohls, Back-to-school, school, shopping, sale, Carters

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I received the included Carter’s clothes as compensation but all opinions are mine.

As I lay here in the sun poolside, it’s hard to imagine that it’s already time to get the girls ready to go back to school. How can it be? Wasn’t it just yesterday that we were celebrating the last day of school? Why do the summers keep flying by quicker the older my children get?

When the girls were little, a year felt like an eternity. Back in those days, I was so exhausted and overwhelmed, I wasn’t 100% sure that I was going to survive the year. Then, it passed and with each passing year, I got a little more sleep, they got a little easier and right at the time you really start to enjoy spending time talking to your little ones and being with them, the summers decide to go by at lightning speed. Not cool, time. Slow down.

Kohls, Back-to-school, school, shopping, sale, Carters

Anyways, my point is time speeds up when we least want it to and it doesn’t seem to care that I’m gripping on for dear life, pulling back while life’s propelling my babies forward. I loosen my grip but then they catapult away in every direction. So I grab hold at my first chance. This push and pull of parenting, like the ebb and flow of the surf against the shore. There’s a lot of bending and growing, the goal is to not break but to grow stronger through our intertwinement.

As the girls get older, we seem to be getting closer. My mom tells me that I’m “lucky” that my girls are “so good”. I tell her, “No, I’ve put in 12 years of hard time to get to this point.” Parenting has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with showing up every single day and being present. It’s hard work but it’s worth it and anyone who tells you it isn’t is either a liar or completely missing the point.

Kohls, Back-to-school, school, shopping, sale, Carters

As my girls get older, we actually have fun hanging out together; talking, sharing and keeping secrets, laughing and loving like there is no tomorrow. They are honestly two of my favorite people.

Kohls, Back-to-school, school, shopping, sale, Carters

One of our favorite things to do together is spend the day shopping and trying clothes on. This was a favorite pastime of my sisters and me in our teens. We could shop for hours without ever spending a dime. It was the time together that was important. It may sound cliché, but there truly is something kind of magical and wonderfully bonding about girls creating fashionable outfits together. It’s more than just spending money on clothes, it’s about the conversations, the honesty and the intimacy of sharing your personal style with someone else. It’s sharing a part of your soul and in the process, making memories. When you’re thinking of selling your old clothes to earn some quick cash to afford new ones, using sites and Selling apps will allow you to sell them without the hassle.

Kohls, Back-to-school, school, shopping, sale, Carters

My girls have to wear uniforms to school and that leaves them feeling a bit fashionably and creatively stifled so shopping together for casual clothes is something they look forward to every single year. It transcends the act of shopping for clothing and the bonding experience, it is their chance to showcase who they are. Their casual clothes allow them the freedom to express who they are on the inside.

This week my sister and her son came to visit and we did something we haven’t had the chance to do in a really long time, we went shopping together. We had a blast loading our arms full of the latest Carter’s styles and mixing and matching different pieces and having a little fashion show.

Kohls, Back-to-school, school, shopping, sale, Carters

The kids were giggling and laughing and having so much fun together and, in that moment, my sister and I were those two teenagers again; hanging out in the dressing room, trying to find the cutest outfit for the roller dome, or the football game or whatever party we were going to.

In those moments, we all grew closer as we posed the kids and they made goofy faces. It was simple, nothing planned or fancy, just a couple sisters shopping for back-to-school with their children but those little moments, they are when the unforgettable glimpses of forever family begin to shine through. In those snapshots of hysterical laughing and smiling until your cheeks hurt, that’s when the bond is sealed and the love grows.

Hair, Fashion Haul Friday, Fashion Friday, Fashion Hair

Fashion and Hair ~This week’s fashion Friday is all about the hair. Sure, it’s nice to have a hot outfit on but the hair is truly the glue that ties it all together. Shit hair with a hot outfit can destroy the whole thing. If you think I’m exaggerating, try a ponytail with a hot red dress. Not sexy, just sad. Maybe the look could be pulled off with one of those loose and sexy ponys. You know the I just fornicated ponytail that looks like someone just tried to rip it off your head in the heat of the moment as you rolled around in bed. Yeah, that one is sexy. The one we throw our hair into when we drop the kids off in our pajamas…not so much.

My Hair on my Birthday, Fall of 2010

Long, shiny and layered has always been my preferred hairstyle. All boys like long hair, right? Long hair is sexy. Men love to run their fingers through long hair. Isn’t this in the handbook for tween girls somewhere?

I felt pretty with all that long, flowing hair. When I wore it big and curly, I felt even more sexy. But then sometime in the last 6 years, not coincidentally around the same time I became a Mommy, all that beautiful hair spent 97% of the time in a ponytail. What am I, 6?

Sure on special occasions, I fixed it and most of the time it looked awesome. But I have naturally curly hair and a LOT of it, and it’s strong willed and stubborn (consider the head it’s attached to) and has a mind of its own sometimes. So some days it would look great and other days it looked like I had gotten into a wrestling match with my hair…and I clearly lost.

Then all that ponytailing made my hair start to break off, couple that with stress making it fall out. There you have me, forehead turning into a fivehead and my tub looking like kittens were trying to escape down the drain each time I shower. Pssst, I’m pretty sure all that hair boycotting my head decided to be political and occupy my floor. Then this fall, this started happening….

Hair, Fashion Haul Friday, Fashion Friday, Fashion Hair

My hair in the fall 2011, a bit matronly and unruly.

The hair completely boycotted ME! Sure, it doesn’t look awful but this was a good day. This was no ponytail. But NO CONTROL. Any other day of the week, I can assure you that I was wearing yoga pants, a t-shirt, and a ponytail. It made me feel ugly. It made me want to be invisible. My hair had always been a source of beauty on me. We all have them, parts and pieces of who we are that we love and adore. For me they were as follows, in no particular order; intelligence, humor, hair, eyes, teeth, boobs and legs and a good fashion sense. But everything else had to come first and I devolved into someone who couldn’t project self confidence and worth if she felt ugly and sub par.

They say that every great change throughout history has started with a very small step. Yesterday, I took that step.

My Hair Today

I haven’t had a haircut in over 6 months and not a decent stylist since before Abbi was born ( she’s 4).  I’ve been band aiding my soul with just getting by. Meantime, my self confidence has been being chipped away at an alarming rate. I made up my mind, I bought a hairstyle magazine, found the one I liked, asked Siri for the top stylist in town and voila…new amazing stylist. She was intuitive and receptive to me and what I wanted but reminded me of what I needed. No wonder I was extra comfortable being pampered on their salon chairs. This is the cut I decided on. We cut off 8 inches of my hair yesterday in that Aveda Salon and sent it away to Lockes of Love ( a charity very close to my heart because of my nephew who suffered from leukemia .)

I left the salon feeling lighter, not only freed from the weight of the hair that had been cut off but of the weight of having to figure out what to do with said hair. My hair is currently too short to pull into a pony so I usually just style it with the best mousse for fine hair I can find in the store. I chose this hairstyle because it forces me to fix my hair and form a new habit. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that with this new cut, color and style; I don’t feel like just these precious little angels Mom. I feel like a woman again. I feel feisty, sassy and ,dare I say it, even sexy.My husband absolutely adores it and hasn’t been able to keep his hands off the back, as it is shorter and textured. He told me that he was afraid to put his hands in my long hair for fear of messing it up or getting tangled up in it.

I just want to tell all of you beautiful ladies, who have been wanting to change your hair, the color, the length, or drastically cut it shorter; GO FOR IT! It was so liberating. I feel like there’s nothing I can’t do. I feel like when I go out and people are staring at me, they are staring at how hot my hair is. It just screams run your fingers through my hair. Unlike before, they were staring and thinking to themselves, poor girl really needs to run a brush through that nest.

This haircut was like going to college, it totally liberated me from being who I allowed myself to be preconceived as. I’m happy, I am optimistic, I am sexy, I am Sassy, and I am feisty and loud about the whole thing! What a difference a hair can make.

Don’t forget the giveaway for the Karen Kane $100 GC is still open until next Friday. Please see here for direction and how to enter via. Raffle-copter. My new hair looks stunning with my Karen Kane vest, a long t and  well-fitting, good pair of jeans.

Fashion Haul Friday ~ Karen Kane This week’s fashion find is a Reversible Faux Fur Vest by Karen Kane. If you’ve never heard of Karen Kane, you are missing out, mamas. Karen Kane is high quality, reasonably priced fashion. Forget the big stores we are used to frequenting, like Target and Kohls (not that I don’t love them but I want some place to shop for JUST me not the whole family), think boutique. Think being the hottest mom in the drop off, think Karen Kane!

Karen Kane

How Hot is this Karen Kane Faux Fur Vest?

I received this in the mail and couldn’t wait to wear it  but where to? I was over thinking it. But it was so beautiful that I didn’t want to wear it just anywhere. Then I remembered to live for today. It’s like fine China, you spend an entire lifetime looking at your China through the glass door of your China cabinet but wouldn’t it be more fun to actually use it? I decided that I wanted to wear this beautiful gray faux fur vest today and I did. I put it on with a well-fitted, long sleeved t-shirt, a pair of jeans and my sweater boots. I reported for room mother duties in my daughter’s classroom feeling put together and cute, instead of hiding behind a ponytail, dark sunglasses and yoga pants. That in itself was an awesome feeling. The vest is generously cut and if you are on the smaller built size you may want to actually purchase a size smaller than you usually wear. I happen to be very well endowed upfront and the vest closed perfectly.  I also love the fact that it is reversible because you can change your entire demeanor with the switch of your vest. If you are feeling a little more rocker, switch it around so that the fur is on the outside’ pair it with the incredible turtle neck paired with the vest in the photo and a pair of well-fitting skinny jeans and of course a pair of hot 5 inch heels. This is definitely a piece to help rescue you from sweat pants purgatory.

Fashion Haul Friday, Fashion, shopping, sales, styling, dress, moms, apparell

Fashion Haul Friday ~ Tea Collection This week’s fashion find is an amazing Chica cable sweater by Tea Collection for women. I know that we all know and love tea collection for their kids clothes. We mom’s live for tea collection to have a sale for our back to school style and baby clothes. Tea collection is who we look to dress our children. Most of our children are outfitted in their awesome designer children’s clothes, but did you realize they bring the awesome in women’s clothes as well? I never even considered shopping there for myself, until now! I’m a Tea Collection convert.

Tea Collection for the Stylish Mom

I received this AWESOME Chica Cable sweater in phantom from Tea’s Modern Mexico collection, which is so appropriate because I just happen to be a little Modern Mexico myself. I ordered a large and it is very roomy. This worked out nicely for me because I am a little over gifted in the chest area and have issue finding clothing that fit appropriately in that area. If you are tiny, I suggest you get a size smaller than you normally wear since it fits so generously. It is made of the softest merino wool that I have ever felt but at the same time has some weight to it. I paired it over a long sleeve jersey shirt and it worked out as a light weight coat. I also added to the outfit a pair of cute jeans and some black UGGs. I took Mommy Chic to a whole new level. If you wanted to be more casual on the go Mom you could swap out jeans for leggings, if you’ve got the ass for it.You’ve been spinning, show off what you’ve done. Or if you want to dress it up a bit more, add some black dress boots or booties and pair the Chica Cable Sweater over something more feminine and flouncy! I may have to swap out my permanent seat in sweat pants purgatory for this Chica Cable Sweater, it is so comfy and soft. It’s like wearing one of those cuddly, warm baby blankets but with style and fashion minus the spit up and judgement.

Tea Collection; Mom Chic has never been so Fashionable

Features:

Hola chica, have you met your new cardi? Big geo cables, dolman sleeves, an oversize draped collar. A little bit Mexican and a lot modern. Surprise yourself with how chic it looks layered over something a bit more dressy. Imported.

  • 100% Merino Wool
  • Dry Clean

To recap, I LOVE this sweater and it has made me fall deeply in love with Tea Collection for women. Not only have they made me fall in love with them, they will make you fall in love with them too. Tea Collection is offering a $100 gift certificate to one of my lucky subscribers to use on anything you want. You can buy something for yourself ( which I highly recommend) or you can buy something for your little ones. tieks, day time, casual, work outfit

Since breaking my leg, I’ve had to make a lot of changes especially since, you know, the leg is not what it once was. It has been through quite the ordeal and once you get broken, shattered and dislocated all in one trip, well, it takes time to recover but I don’t want to be doomed to a life of ugly shoes.

I get it, heels are not really an option when you are still in physical therapy and still learning to not walk like a pirate. To be honest, I am a little terrified to put my heels back on. In fact, I may have a little PTSD. Not joking. I mean, I fell, JUST.WALKING! It’s been a hard road to recovery.

So I’ve decided since my orthopedic surgeon has told me that it will probably take at least 6- 9 months for the swelling to go down and a total recovery time of 12-18 months, I am going to live in the now. Life is too short for only wearing ugly shoes. I need something fashionable and cute yet comfortable. As if that’s not too much to ask, I want a pair of shoes that can easily transition from day to night; from the office to a night out on the town. I want shoes that can go from casual chic to night time sophistication, plus I want them to be pretty. I want these shoes to be everything plus comfortable. Can I get an amen?

I don’t think it’s too much to ask and I think I found the perfect answer to my dilemma…Tieks. Look, we all know they’re comfy and super cute but we all switch to our heels at night and throw our Tieks in the bag in the bottom of our handbag, until our dogs start barking late at night and then we slip our Tieks back on; full fashion circle. Only, I don’t have the time or a working leg to transition to the heels so I want to eliminate them altogether.

My solution? Romantic Blush Tieks in handcrafted metallic prints leather. These shoes are not only glamorous and gorgeous; they elongate your legs because of the nude coloring with just the right amount of sparkle. They say, hey I came to work all day and play all night because they are so comfortable and versatile.I’m not going to lie, I can’t believe it took me breaking my leg to fully appreciate the comfort and style of my Tieks.

Each of these Italian leathers features a unique snake print on split leather, and is entirely hand-painted. The reflective gold and silver foil accents, which add an unparalleled sparkle unique to this collection, are individually placed. At least five sets of skilled artisan hands work on each piece of leather, making this one of our most special collections. As a result, no two pairs of Tieks made from these leathers are exactly alike.

In case you are hesitant about the day to night look. I will show you!

tieks, day time, casual, work outfit

Perfect for a day of work or play. Whether you’re working to meet deadlines or heading to a play date with the little ones, this outfit will not disappoint and your feet will be happy.

With one quick change, you can take those same shoes and go out for a night out on the town. Your feet will thank you.

tieks, day time, casual, work outfit, nighttime

What’s your favorite piece that goes from day to night?

New Year, New Year's Eve,Fashion Haul Friday, Fashion, shopping, sales, styling, dress, moms, apparell

New Year’s Eve~ Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve and most of the world will be going out on the town with their significant other and toasting the new year at midnight. I used to do this. I waited all year to get dressed up for that night. Lately though, I’ve been opting to spend the New Year’s eve with my Big Guy and the little ones. We start with a pizza dinner, then we turn up the clocks to midnight ( around 8 pm) and celebrate with party hats, whistles, horns and champagne ( sparkling cider) toast followed by kisses and an impromptu dance party with rock band. We are wild over here. We started this last year and will be our tradition until the girls are sick of it. Then we snuggle the girls into bed with their heads all a blur from drinking too much sparkling cider. You heard me right. My husband told our then 5 year old that sparkling cider was champagne for little girls. She then proceeded to say that she had drank way too much and was feeling woosy. The Big Guy and I refer to it as the incident of 2010. We haven’t had the heart to break it to her that it’s only bubbly apple juice. It’s more likely that she was woosy from the arsenic poison ( bad Mommy). Either way, my girls danced the night away and went to bed looking forward to the following year and all the great things it promised to be. 2011, you’ve been good but 2012 will be better.  I usually end up in my pajamas cuddled up on the couch with the Big Guy drinking wine, watching the New Year’s eve shows and reminiscing about our lives and all of our blessings.  But if I were going out to some knock your socks off event, you can be sure this would be my first pick for awesomely hot Mom attire.

New Year’s Eve Edition

New Year’s Eve 2011: Behold, the Fitzgerald from Shabby Apple

This is one of my absolute favorite dresses from Shabby Apple. So cute yet sexy. The way it swings and falls is forgiving on most shapes and less confining then some of the other more fitted New Year’s eve choices.. The color palette is classy and chic. It’s also very affordable at $92.00 at Shabby Apple. I also adore the pairing of the creme colored fishnet stockings for a little extra flirtiness.

Also, Shabby Apple is offering a 10% off discount to all The TRUTH about Motherhood readers on all of your Shabby Apple shopping this holiday season. The code is Truthful10off and the code is valid until January 2,1012. I hope you will all take advantage of this code and get yourself a hot little party dress for this season; YOU DESERVE IT!

New Year’s Eve Shoe Hotness; The Madeline

I can’t even tell you how much I absolutely adore these peep toe heels. The ribbon makes then fun and flirty but the 5 inch heel makes them sexy as all  get out and they only cost $59.95 at DSW! I adore DSW, especially for making my legs look so long all these years with their wild assortment of 5 inch heels.

New Year’s Eve; New Sexy Hair

I’m loving this hair because it is upswept and very sexy and doesn’t take a lot of work. It’s pretty much my Mommy hair, add to that a little teasing and a fancy head band and Mommy’s got some sass in her class. I hope, no matter where you celebrate tomorrow evening, you feel sexy, sassy and blessed. Happy New Year to you all.

I’ve had the pleasure of being an ambassador for Aventura clothing for the past year. Until then, I honestly didn’t know much about the line. In the past year, I’ve had the chance to try several pieces and I won’t lie, I’ve really been impressed.

I’m 42 years old, so I figured out a long time ago the difference between cheaply made clothing and well-made, high-quality pieces. In fact, I can’t even convince myself to buy lesser quality clothing for myself because it’s simply not worth it in the long run. What’s the point of paying $25 for jeans if you only wear them once? I’d rather pay $100 or $200 and wear them until they fall apart, I also found great prices for the garment labels wholesale, all custom made and for a great quality.

Aventura was a pleasant surprise in the fact that they are well-priced but extremely well-made using high quality materials that not only look good and feel good, they are made to fit adult women’s bodies; tall, short, thin or plus sized. Got curves? No problem.

The pieces are comfortable and you feel good when you wear them. I don’t spend the entire time pulling and tugging to get stuff to fit. It’s just cut in a way that falls nicely on the adult woman’s body. Of course, that hasn’t kept my young daughters from snagging certain pieces, ahem, scarves and hats.

Aventura

What can I say the girl has good taste. Though I do wish she’d let me wear it at least some of the time, but how can I deny her when she looks so dang cute in the Lachlan hat and scarf?

Here are a few of my favorite pieces that I ordered. With the basic colors and patterns, it is so easy to mix and match to create endless possibilities with just a few great pieces.

Aventura

This outfit is so cozy and perfect for shopping or lounging by the fire. I am a big fan of Aventura sweaters but the Berlin wool sweater may be my all time favorite. It was perfect for apple picking and cool fall days and has transitioned nicely as a layering piece this winter. I can’t express how awesome the bienne tank tops are. They come is several colors and are long enough for any height and you don’t have to worry about them stretching out or riding up on muffin tops. Definitely a basic everyone needs in their closet. The Morgan cords are like nothing you have ever felt before, soft, stretchy and body hugging without restrictive. I LOVE THEM.

aventura

Or if you are need something feminine, yet warm and cozy to wear to girls night out or dinner with your favorite guy. I love this outfit. The Maxine top is light and flowy with ruching on the neckline that makes it look gorgeous on almost every body type and can be worn year round. I like to layer it over a bienne tank in beaujolais  during the cooler months. On top of that, I like the Zuri Jacket because the 100% boiled wool will never fail to keep you warm during these cooler months and the gradient color gives it a air of sophistication. The Blake skinny jean goes with just about anything you want to wear it with. Made from organic cotton and Lycra, it’s an eco-friendly option with a touch of stretch that fits your body like a glove and they look great with boots.

aventura

I spend a lot of time in yoga pants so when I get dressed to go out into public for school parties, to the doctor’s office, shopping, the movies or just lunch with a friend, I have an expectation of comfort but I don’t want to look like I just rolled out of bed so Aventura helps me have both; style and comfort. I think this is just the perfect outfit for hanging out and running errands. The Ciera vest is quilter and tailored but the back is stretchy knit, so you may not want to go up a size. I did to accommodate my bust-line and it was a little large on me. The Natalie Reversible skirt is reversible with a fun burnout print on the top layer and a solid jersey on the inner layer and it’s fully lined so if you are over 30, no need to worry about cellulite making an appearance through your clothes. We’ve got you covered. This skirt is super comfy and lightweight. You can wear it definitely wear it round.

You can still get your Aventura in time for Christmas!

Oreder 12/19 before 9 AM PST for 2 & 3 Day Shipping • 12/22 before 9 AM PST for Next Day Shipping.

Just because I am in the holiday spirit, I will give a 60% off promo code for your order up to $250 to the first 15 people that leave a comment letting me know your favorite Aventura piece.

ecoths

Sportif also has a men’s line, Ecoths brand, which my husband loves.. Same quality as Aventura, made to fit real men but fashionable and stylish. He has the Maddox sweater made of 100% organic cotton. It’s soft and cut to accommodate his broad shoulders, waist and long torso which is something we usually have a hard time finding to fit. He also has the Grady Cords which he adores and he is not a corduroy type of guy but he says that these are so comfortable that he feels like he’s wearing his favorite jeans, plus there’s no awkward swishing sound like with some corduroy pants.

ecoths' maddox sweater

Personally, there is nothing sexier than a man cooking for me but he’s wearing that Maddox sweater pretty well.

aventura, holidays, holiday gift guide 2014

I wear my Aventura everywhere. The jacket I wore to the city tree lighting above my Berlin sweater is the Briarwood jacket and I won’t lie, I wish I had it in every single color. Even the Grinch approves:)

As you can see, my family is an Aventura family. We love it and that’s the truth. Happiest of Holidays to your family from mine.

Disclosure: I am a proud Aventura ambassador and as such product was provided to me for review purposes, all opinions are my own.

zara, anti-semitic, Holocaust, fashion

Throat Punch Thursday is back just for International Clothing designer ZARA from Spain. They are selling a “sheriff” shirt with stripes and a star of David that very closely resembles the shirts worn in concentration caps in Nazi Germany. Talk about low rent behavior.

Look, the world is a cesspool of shit right now. Isis is beheading Christians, African-Americans are being shot dead in the street like animals, mental illness is the silent killer like cancer of the brain chemicals and anti-Semitism is alive and well. See, I learned a very important lesson as a child, those who do not know history are destined to repeat it. Well, not trying to be captain obvious but haven’t we all been here before?

The ZARA shirt is just a reminder of what a group of assholes we can be when we try or just don’t give a shit about other people at all. I’m not going to go on a rant about what a rotten state the world is in because truth be told it’s probably always been in various states of shit depending on who you are and what your perspective is.

The reason this ZARA shirt is so offensive to me is that aside from being blatantly anti-Semitic it lets adults dress unsuspecting children in a sick and offensive garment that is reminiscent of one of the darkest days in history and then send them out into the world like a big Fuck You to the entire Jewish population. Maybe someone thought this was funny but I think it’s sad, hurtful and dangerous. What’s next, swastika print on Bermuda shorts? What are we teaching our children? Isn’t the world messed up enough without reopening old wounds?

Global warming, racism, bigotry, anti-Semitism, the objectification of women, the never ending misunderstanding and stigmatization of mental illness, gun Control, the economy, the hungry homeless on our own doorsteps and just a general lack of empathy and compassion in the world are just a few things going so wrong right now that have all happened before. Were we not paying attention the first 100 times these things have happened?

I’m a pragmatist, I know that the world will never be a perfect place. I don’t believe in unicorns and Utopia. I know that not everyone will always be accepting or tolerant of others. But wouldn’t it be nice if for a change, the assholes were in the minority instead of the majority.  My eyes have begun to twitch from the news lately.

Today , I read about a male pediatric nurse who molested the 2-month old preemie baby boy who he was fostering and then video taped and took photos of the whole thing. It went on for weeks. In one video, the authorities said that they could audibly hear the baby crying. What makes a person able to stomach doing something like that to a newborn, or anyone for that matter?

What are your thoughts on this “Sheriff” shirt by Zara?

Primark Boston, Why Primark is best place to shop with teenagers, teen fashion, budget friendly fashion

Do you live near a Primark? Me neither. But I do frequent Primark Boston when I’m in town each summer. What is Primark? It’s an Irish fast fashion retailer headquartered in Dublin, Ireland but is now the fastest growing retailer in the United Staes. We’re talking Depeche Mode at its finest if you ask me. But why do I think that Primark is the best place to shop with teenagers?

What does that mean? I think the about us page says it all…

Adored by fashion fans and value seekers alike Primark is widely established as the destination store for keeping up with the latest looks without breaking the bank.

Primark is an international retailer based out of Europe that offers the latest fashion, beauty and homeware trends at the best value on the high street. Simply put, amazing fashion at amazing prices. Don’t walk in there expecting Nordstrom quality but you won’t be paying Nordstrom prices either. In no way am I saying that the products are of bad quality. I am a big fan and my daughters are even bigger fans.

All this to say, I love Primark. My daughters love Primark. Why? Because I can get them trendy clothes at a great price and good quality. But budget-friendly enough that I’m not going to get upset when they outgrow pieces or it goes out of style because we all know that trends change faster than a teenager’s mood these days.

Not convinced that Primark is for you?

Let me give you 5 reasons that Primark is the best place to shop with teenagers.

Primark has all different trends available.

Not into crop tops? Hate denim? Love denim? Love rompers? Prefer long dresses? No, more of a mini dress connoisseur? Maybe you love Harry Potter t-shirts? Or maybe Disney is more your speed? Perhaps you want to look a little more mature with some chic professional tops and blazers? No matter what you need, Primark has got you covered.

Primark has constantly changing inventory.

Didn’t find anything you liked today? I’m calling bullsh*t because I never leave that place without finding something but if you did, come back tomorrow, there will probably be some new inventory. Awesome if you didn’t find anything yesterday but not fun if you found the perfect jeans and now you want 12 more pairs. Best to buy it when you see it. They don’t call it fast fashion just because.

Try it Before You Buy It.

No, I don’t mean you can rent the runway at Primark but it sure is easier and more cost effective to buy that Zimmermann dupe before buying an actual Zimmerman piece with a much higher price tag. BTW, I love everything Zimmermann and if I could afford it, I’d have it all.

Primark has Cute Clothes that you won’t find everywhere else.

Well, at least you won’t find these pieces at your local Target or Kohls. I feel like the pieces are more fashion-forward than some other staples. For example, I saw lots of pastel flower patterns, cotton eyelet dresses and paper bag pants and shorts on the runway this spring but I’m not seeing those in the stores, at least not here in the Midwest. I love that we can get cute clothes and won’t see everyone else in town wearing them.

Primark is budget friendly.

I will post my last haul below. I spent around $150 between 2 trips. At any other store, I would have only gotten a fraction of the items and I can guarantee that I wouldn’t have had the selection of sizes and variety.

Still not convinced that Primark is for you and your family?

This is what $150 got me at Primark:

3 pairs of culottes $12 per pair

1 pair of awesome fit, high-waist, skinny, raw edge jeans $24 (*Best jeans ever).

2 Flutter sleeved, cotton eyelet blouses $17 each

1 adorable pair of Aladdin lounge pants $11

1 pack of Harry Potter socks (the softest socks I’ve ever owned) $2 ( on sale)

Cropped blouse with arrows on it $5 (on sale)

6 pairs of lightweight lounge shorts $4 per pair

1 lightweight festival dress $17

I don’t know about you but that’s a steal because that’s what I normally pay for one blouse/dress at Free People. And yes, I do love Free People and I mostly, shop the FP sales at Macy’s but still I could never get this many pieces for this price, not even at Target. With Primark Boston we don’t even have to worry about what to pack for our trips to Boston because we know we’ll be buying plenty.

Did I mention that the girls got so many cute and trendy outfits? They are like little kids in a candy shop every time we hit Primark. Maybe I should change the saying to like teenagers in Primark Boston. Every time we visit Boston, this is the first place the girls want to hit. In fact, hotel distance from Primark may even be a factor when we travel. Shhh, don’t tell the Big Guy.

Have you ever shopped at Primark Boston? Or any Primark? What do you think of it?

Are you a Primark devotee or can you take it or leave it?

We’re obviously obsessed.
