I have the pleasure of guest posting over at MommyNaniBooBoo today. I’m sure most of you know Jenni but if you don’t you should really check her out. She is the perfect mix of sweet and snark, she’s sweetly snarkilicious and funny as all get out. She is my must read and she has allowed me to grace her page.
Please go check out my post today One is like One but two is Like Ten and leave some love! Meanwhile, I am leaving you with the original Mommy Truisms Post which posted on April 21, 2010. Hope you enjoy.
This is something new that I thought I’d share. It is my list of Mommy truisms. I will post a few today and then let them trickle in as they come to me from here on out. Happy Mothering!
- Spit up is not an allowable accessory to any outfit, but as another Mommy I will let it slide because it is better than some of the alternatives i.e poop. pee. full on vomit, etc.
- Modesty is a thing of the past! When in labor with my first, I was so embarrassed because my belly was so enormous that the gown didn’t cover my ass.Now after never peeing, pooping, waxing, shaving, showering, changing a feminine product alone, and a myriad of other so called ‘private’ things that I ‘share’ with my children due to lack of privacy…that modesty has passed.
- Mom’s who work outside of the home are brave, courageous, and strong.
- Mom’s who stay home are braver, slightly crazy, extremely courageous, and in desperate need of a night out and some adult conversation.
- Waking a sleeping child is like waking a sleeping bear; JUST DON”T DO IT!!!!
- With the right motivation, Daddies are underrated and capable and willing to do so much more than we want to admit or allow them to do.
These are my truisms for today. What are yours? I’d love to hear them!

I will make sure and check out your guest post! The waking baby mommy truism is SO true! I will never ever wake Harlan up. Her nap time is my precious “mommy” time!
Lauren,
I NEVER wake my girls…except for school but I normally let them wake for that too..gentle nudging..lights, whispers. Jolting kids awake is bad news bear!Let Harlan sleep as long as she will soon it will be schools and appointments and then you are at the world’s mercy:)
Definitely TRUisms! Love that word… ‘snarkilicious’… reminds me of my baby’s nickname… Snugglicious.
Here’s one: Sometimes too quiet means something scary, but sometimes enjoying the scary quiet is worth it.
I’m here from comment hour and just wanted to say your little girl is GORGEOUS!
Stipping by with SITS comment love! Sweet blog!! Beautiful kids!!

Visiting from #CommentHour ~
Stopping by from #CommentHour – your children are lovely! It’s totally true about kids being cuter when they’re asleep. 😉 Finally, snarkalicious is a great word.
A www, thanks for stopping by and all the kind words about my girls.
I like the picture of your little girl with the snow falling! That in my favorite of the 3 or 4 I saw.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I’m trying to catch up on visits too. And thanks for the lovely words about my daughter:)
I definitely agree with the ‘Mon’s who stay home …’ and the ‘Modesty’. My 2 1/2 year old son knows probably more about the use of feminine products, where to find them at home and in what shop I’m buying them than my Hubs.
Another one: You let them stay up late but they will not sleep in later than usual the next morning. And you will be so exhausted.
Oh I know, why is it that the NEVER sleep in unless very sick:( I live for summer so I can break this nasty 6 am habit:) lol
I loved your post on Mommy Nani BooBoo. And you are so right. Daddy’s can do a fantastic job, when we give them a chance.
A www, thanks sweetie. daddies can do absolutely anything we just don’t let them use their powers as often as we should:)
That in my favorite of the 3 or 4 I saw. Weird, small, blogging world I guess. Stipping by with SITS comment love! A www, thanks sweetie.
